Round Team & Le Showcase présentent :
ROUND #00
Line Up :
DMC from Run DMC (Live)
Make The Girl Dance
The Toxic Avenger
Stereoheroes
Warm Up : Solo
DMC ne compte pas en rester là : “On january the 9th I’m going to claim what’s mine. I did it once and I’m going to do it again.”

Edu K has been a master of dance music for years. From his forward thinking Baile Funk to his Rave Zombie Electro and now his worldy, percussion inspired tech house, Edu K has always managed to shock and inspire his audience with his take on music. His first release with Scattermusic is a 2 track EP, packed to the brim with remixes. The EP includes the tracks “Ja, Mann!”; a cheeky, worldly minimal track filled with energy and plenty of drum rolls and “Jumpin n Pumpin”; a crazy, horn-fuelled number that doesn’t know when to quit. Remixes of “Ja. Mann!” come courtesy of Mom & Dad with a totally club, stomper that’s all-to-relevant and Slap & Dash with a relentless, Hip Hop influenced dance track, filled with big synths and marching drums.

Anybody that thinks I can’t do it anymore better step right back and take that’ is Wiley’s opening salvo on his newest club and radio heater. Wiley’s been accustomed to switching up the game, right back to the days when he urged the garage establishment to ‘go that way’ to lead a new generation into his Eskimo dance raves and the birth of grime. Now the ‘Godfather of Grime’ has picked a ghetto-house production with chainsaw bass by Brooklyn producers Chew Fu to bring a new sound forward again. The lyrics name check Island Records label mate Tinchy Stryder (‘went No.1 with No.1, yeah that’s my brother’), the grime crew he founded Roll Deep (I was in the charts with ‘Avenue’ and ‘Shake A Leg’) as well as British pop institution Take That (‘I was in a Bedford nightclub…saw a member of the group Take That’). Zane Lowe already made ‘Take That’ his Hottest Record Of The Week. Fearne Cotton is crowning it her Record Of The Week. Other DJs to support include Jo Whiley and MistaJam. Meanwhile Wiley still turns up at Rinse FM for surprise appearances and fans of avant-garde music continue to analyse the icy structure of his productions. He’s a giant in grime, a one-off and anyone that thinks he can’t do it anymore can take that.

Jan Turkenburg is quite literally a musical UFO landed from a distant galaxy in his spaceship. Or more precisely from Zwolle's Geert Grote School (Netherlands), in which Mr Turkenburg is known to be a music teacher. "In My Spaceship" makes its way throughout educational and free music websites...and eventually lands on I-F's cult (now defunct) CBS webradio as one of the most played songs of the year. This way the Sister Phunk Team was caught and moved by the project and managed to convide Mr Turkenburg to give his song a pop life through a proper release with quality remixes. Thanks Pilooski who gives it the elegantly uplifting treatment, while up-and-comer Breakbot funkyfies the original, spreading his 70s west-coast vibe. The happy owners of this collector object have the privilege to be able to download the Digital Maxi by using the access code. This is a bonus instrumental track that will be available on the date of the digital release. From the collaboration between Sister Phunk and Kulte, a limited number of 2 different versions of In My Spaceship are available.

Seeing a band crushed under the weight of their own hype… There are few things more depressing to the music fan. For instance, Glasvegas had a good thing going for them – granted, their debut was far from the masterpiece many thought it to be – but it now seems they have faded, and need a masterstroke to save them from condemnation in the wake of what may well be their clichéd ‘difficult second album’. Then there are those that keep their head above water and keep the flood-tides of praise from pushing them under. Notable examples from this year include Animal Collective and La Roux – both producing two entirely different but equally wonderful records. The first example of such a band casting off the shackles of hype in 2010 is undoubtedly Delphic. When going into ‘Acolyte’ for the first time, do yourself a favour and leave your preconceptions of the band’s sound at the door. This is by far a more atmospheric – and even euphoric – album than its singles suggested. Its title track is a wonderful nine-minute trip, swept along by strings and soft vocals. Surefire single ‘Halcyon’ has the best chorus they’ve written to date, and the raw power of ‘Clarion Call’ makes for a perfect opening. ‘Acolyte’ does not fall into the trap that most debuts do. That is, it does not seem to stick to one idea throughout its course. More than half of the album’s tracks are what I would consider growers. Things are in the process of clicking as I type this, and herein is where the record’s real strength lies. An absolute cracker – and that’s after only three listens.

Continuing to deliver exclusive remixes from some of the most notable names in dance music, this most recent release in the Scion A/V Remix series highlights New York City label DFA's resident house music hero, The Juan Maclean. Both the DFA label and Maclean himself have been widely regarded as being at the vanguard of electronic music and house for a number of years now, particularly given the critical success of his most recent LP "The Future Will Come", from which this release borrows it's material for remixing. With an eye to the future of house and a consummate understanding and respect for its' history, Maclean's music, remixed here by four of DFA's up and coming artists, is always undeniably soulful and innovative.
♫ The Juan Maclean - The Future Will Come (Canyons Remix)
The title track off of MacLean's most recent LP gets the deluxe analog remix treatment courtesy of Australia's Canyons. A heavily processed vocal computerized vocal flutters over a bed of reverbed-out drums that blend the disco boogie and freestyle traditions seamlessly. A simple bassline loops throughout the track setting up a hypnotic vibe with all sorts of arpeggiated high synths and analog LFO psychedelia drifting in and out of the track. A slow burner with a double dose of vibe.

Full frontal junglist rinse-off styles from The Count & Sinden backed up with a their chunk electro-house banger 'Elephant 1234' and a blazin' remix from Hot City for the 12" version ! The jungle blast of 'Strange Things' will come as a surprise to most followers of their style, but the well placed John Holt sample and a floor frolicking vibes will work a treat, especially on the rampantly Amen-heavy remix from High Rankin. The funky infected 'Elephant 1234' takes over the flipside with overweight kickdrums and proper party vibes, given a smart remix from Hot City, showing the roots of fidget with Todd Edwards-style quarter beat skips and a serving up his speciality of rogue rousing breakdowns to kill for. The first lady of electro pop is back. It’s been three years since Uffie took the underground by storm with her killer electro crunk anthems Hot Chick, Ready To Uff and Pop The Glock. 17 million My Space plays later, the 22 year old star of Parisian club culture is ready to release her new single MCs Can Kiss. Produced by Mr Oizo, it’s an old skool soundclash of heavy beats and sharp rhymes, a ‘Pass The Dutchie’ for the modern era. Remixes come from some new kids on the block, Zombie Disco Squad and Starkey. Zombie Disco Squad have delivered the perfect big room remix, while Starkey has given it a dirty Philly street feel with his dubstep rework. Her much anticipated debut album Sex, Dreams & Denim Jean (spring 2010). Featuring a collaboration with Pharrell Williams as well as French dance luminaries Feadz, Mr Oizo and Mirwais, this is the album she hinted at being capable of delivering – a futuristic, electronic hip hop soundtrack, soaked in kittenish sex appeal and going in heavy on endlessly catch pop hooks. With her underground dues paid and a killer debut album in the can, the time is perfect for her to become of the first genuinely exciting breakout artists of 2010.

To further add weight to its sheer monstrous potential, ‘Stay Too Long’ has been put through the mill by bass troublers Pendulum – their first remix in three years – resulting in one of the biggest sounding tracks you’re likely to encounter for some time. Breakage gets a grimy tip for his latest Digital Soundboy excursion, accompanied by vox from Rodigan and Newham Generals and backed up with a swaggering remix from Caspa & The Others. We've not heard Breakage going like this before and it's a welcome change, adding a swipe of grimy strings to bass loaded steppers rhythms, sounding like Tubby or older Geeneus tyled dubstep/grime, providing a gritty base for the Gen's and wicked Rodigan samples. On 'The Police Takeover Remix' Caspa & The Others tick close to the original template, adding a snarling synthline sounding something like an Orc orgasm while ramming the subs to their very limits for pure 'floor excitement. Ruuude !

Scanners are a London-based rock outfit formed by Matt Mole (guitar, vocals, synths) & Sarah Daly (vocals, bass, violin), later rounded out with the addition of Amina (guitar, keys) & Tom (drums), resulting in the sound & on-stage chemistry that the band is acclaimed for. 2009 saw Scanners finish up recording their second album Submarine with producer Stephen Hague (New Order), which will be released in February 2010 through Dim Mak. This release is an impressive follow-up from the UK 4some, spearheaded but the eerily melodic first single ìSalvationî with dark wave harmonies that overlay a haunting melody. The single is accompanied with stellar remixes by Don Diablo, Tittsworth, Dan Sena, Dirty Disco Youth & the band themselves.

What Is A Zombie ?
Although there are many different definitions for the word "Zombie" from a West African Snake God to a West Indian victim of voodoo, what we are really talking about here is a reanimated, human corpse that seeks to devour the flesh of living human beings.
Can Zombie Outbreaks Be Discerned In The Archaeological Record ?
Hard zombie evidence is always difficult to uncover. The bones of the living dead are not physically different from those of the conventionally deceased. An archaeologist looking for evidence of zombies should look for corpses that have been either decapitated or brained. As we all know, these two methods are the only two ways of stopping the living dead. Of course, a crushed skull does not necessarily prove the presence of the undead. If possible, scholars should research the methods of warfare used by the people in question. If decapitation and braining were not part of their "M.O." then cranial trauma might be a red flag. The remains of a zombie's victim may also tell us as much, if not more, than the remains of an actual zombie. Look for bones that have been marked by human teeth but lack the scrapes of a butchering implement. This may be evidence of the living dead, since traditional human cannibals have a tendency to 'prepare' their meals with scrapers and other tools.
Who Are Zombies For Money ?
Zombies For Money are the ultimate 21st century zombie musicians ! Fighting against the system they want take control of the record world industry… And destroy it ! They are Manaia Shambling and Putrid Klipar II.

The hot fuss surrounding Crookers is about to reach fever pitch. Already the hippest act in dance circles they will soon unleash their debut album on the world and things are expected to go mad for the two men from Milan. "Tons Of Friends" is exactly as it suggests, an album of them and their friends... The first single to be unleashed from the debut album was a Hip Hop club banger ‘Put Your Hands On Me’, that featured the vocals of Kardinal Offishial and Carla - Marie. After the track’s success Crookers are ready to do one better — they’ve enlisted close friend, and pop princess Kelis to deliver a feisty performance on ‘No Security’ - this killer combination will blow up any party. A Dubstep hybrid of killer beats and crazy vocals, it’s not surprising that Nick Grimshaw, Annie Mac, Toddla T have been championing it. ‘No Security’ will be released on 12” and download, with remixes from Rustie, Zomby, Bart B More and Crookers themselves.
