From "Butter" to "Cornelius" to the Steve Aoki assisted "Warp 1.9" The Bloody Beetroots have put out banger after banger in the past year, dominating clubs and inspiring countless remixes. These tracks, along with a heap of brand new gems will make up The Beetroots’ highly anticipated debut album, Romborama, out August 25th on Dim Mak Records. In addition to Aoki, the album also boasts guest appearances by as The Cool Kids, Justin Pearson (The Locust, Head Wound City), Ed Banger artist Vicarious Bliss, and many more. Since bursting onto the scene in 2007, The Bloody Beetroots, a.k.a. Italian producer and polymath Bob Rifo, has brought a sense of danger to dance floors across the globe. Armed with an endless supply of infectious beats, Rifo injects his thunderous grooves with the chaos and larger-than-life persona of late 70’s British punk and Oi! The juxtaposition of seemingly incompatible styles of music doesn’t end there. Rifo studied classical composers for years, and this influence is apparent on numerous tracks on Romborama. But make no mistake, whether Rifo is channeling the spirit of Beethoven, The Misfits, or something in between, The Beetroots’ primary objective is to incite a dancefloor riot, and each track is always driven by addictive, pulsating beats. In conjunction with a signature sound, Rifo has created a distinct visual aesthetic as well. Taking cues from comic books, Rifo and his onstage partner, DJ Tommy Tea, wear masks while performing to create alter-egos for themselves. The two clips shine a light into a world where mosh pits and general punk rock revelry collide with dance-all-night club culture. It’s a hell of a time, if you can make it out alive.

Following the release of her Top 5 debut album Hands, Little Boots (aka 25 year-old Blackpool girl Victoria Hesketh) unleashes her newest single ‘Remedy’. Released on August 17th through 679/Atlantic and produced by Redone (Lady Gaga), Victoria commented, “I wanted to write a really dark dance pop song a bit like ‘Toxic’ by Britney.’’ The kaleidoscopic video was directed by David Wilson and sees Boots in her element – surrounded by an array of keyboards and her beloved Tenori-On, Decked Out in the finest futuristic garms. Big remixes come courtesy of A1 Bassline and Rusko with more in the pipeline !

Nouveau single du prodige Rémois Yuksek, salué par la critique comme 'révélation électro 2009', « So Far Away (from The Sea) » est le titre le plus pop du premier album dont il est extrait, après les bombes club « Tonight » et « Extraball ». Cette chanson, enregistrée avec le groupe chorale The Bewitched - également de Reims - est une ritournelle pop qui rappelle Blur ou I am from Barcelona. On reconnaît néanmoins la production upbeat ciselée de Yuksek : une fusion indie-dancefloor plutôt inédite donc, au charme estivale contagieux. Les dancefloors devraient particulièrement aimer le remix de The Twelves, tandis que la version d'Etienne Jaumet sera sans doute la bande son des chill-out balearic cet été. Actuellement en tournée mondiale, Yuksek vient de remixer Phoenix, Lady Gaga, The Gossip ou encore Moby.

Simian Mobile Disco release a brand-new album ‘Temporary Pleasure’ through Wichita Recordings on the 17th August 2009. The album will be preceded by the single ‘Audacity Of Huge’ on the 3rd August 2009. ‘Audacity Of Huge’ features vocals from Chris Keating from the critically acclaimed Yeasayer. ‘Temporary Pleasure’ was recorded at the bands studio in east London throughout 2008 and 2009, when the band weren’t busy touring their live show, DJing and producing. As well as representing the best of UK dance music the record contains some staggering pop anthems, featuring vocal contributions from the likes of Beth Ditto and Alexis Taylor. The album will be available on LP, CD and deluxe limited edition CD. Following the stunning videos she made for "Synthesise" (now over 100000 Youtube viewings) and "10000 Horses Can't Be Wrong" Kate Moross (http://www.katemoross.com) will be designing all the artwork for the album and singles, as well as making the video for "Audacity Of Huge". ‘Temporary Pleasure’ is the follow up to the bands 2007 debut ‘Attack Decay Sustain Release’. Amanda Mallory (a.k.a. Amanda Blank) is an American rapper and singer and member of the performance art band Sweatheart based in Philadelphia. She is also a collaborator with the rap group Spank Rock, most notably on the track "Blow" off of the mixcd Bmore Gutter Music and later "Bump" off the album YoYoYoYoYo released in 2006. She has also done collaborations with Plastic Little, Ghostface Killah, M.I.A., Aaron LaCrate, Santigold, and Teki Latex. Blank is signed to Downtown Records. She has been working on her first solo album, with producers XXXChange of Spank Rock, Diplo, and Dave Sitek. The album is set for release on July 19th, 2009. The album is titled "I Love You" with her first Official Single being "Might Like You Better".

There are few things as reliably insane as Basement Jaxx. At this point, you kinda know what you're gonna get when the dance-pop duo get together: genre-flouting uptempo craziness, intriguing guests, a healthy dose of the unexpected. Considering nutso first single "Raindrops", appearances from Yoko Ono, Santigold, and nipple-bearing rap crew Yo Majesty!, and sleeves like that one above, new LP Scars should be no exception. The record is due out in October via XL, according to a Billboard report. But not even Basement Jaxx can keep it past 11 all the time; the duo's Felix Buxton told Billboard that there are some "Pink Floyd-y, more ambient-y" tracks on the way in the form of a mini-LP due out soon after Scars. Until then, there's plenty of typically cracked Jaxx music on the way. You can hear several album tracks : "Saga" featuring Santigold, "She's No Good" featuring Lightspeed Champion, and "Distrackionz" right now.

This Summer Beni will continue to reign the dancefloor supreme with a new monster slab of black plastic, 'Maximus' featuring vocals from the mighty Sam Sparro. “Who put the fun in Acid-Funk” you ask ? The answer is : Beni Did. A low-slung exercise in dark and dirty arpeggiated sleaze, ‘Maximus’ marries a sparse bubble-groove that creeps up behind you and licks your ear with a very ‘purple’ vocal performance by Sparro to devastating effect. The resulting track is something akin to 'Kiss'-era Prince and friends dirty dancing at a Toga Party while ancient Rome burns down around them. On the flipside Beni and Nicky Night Time give 'Maximus' a night-time re-dub rubdown, taking the track away from the creepy funk freak and towards a straighter slammer jammer, favouring blatant dancefloor manipulation over the subtle and the sexy. Also featured (and included on the next Kitsuné Maison 7 installment) is 'Fringe Element', which encapsulates the feeling of surfing on a shooting star like never before, with Beni sitting proudly at the controls. An electronic orchestra of descending basslines, vocoder snippets, bleeps and acid squeaks, ‘Fringe Element’ caps off another compelling chapter in Beni’s lifelong voyage through dance. After the cover of his first EP "My Love Sees You" made by Geneviève Gauckler, his new 12" is illustrated by French artist André.

Thriving in venues and clip joints across the planet, Black Daniel now return with a schizophrenic independent release, their sound cultivated by everything from London and New York’s dirtiest clubs to European tours with Kasabian and (somewhat bizarrely) the great Bryan Adams ! Through word of mouth and an astonishingly dedicated live following, Black Daniel have already found firm fans in Lauren Laverne, Chairlift, Colin Murray, Art Brut and actually every person lucky enough to catch their live show. Impatient, non-conformist, prolific and keen to get some music out asap, the band have decided to release their first single proper as a double A side. And so, we introduce Here Comes Caesar / I Love You But Don't Touch Me Cos You're Sick on Black Daniel’s self-made label 'Dustbowl Recordings' - for people with dust in their pockets, but gold in their heads. Crée en Août 2007 par Pierre Novi et Simon Cachera, Delete fait très rapidement ses preuves. En effet, seulement 1 mois après sa création le groupe est repéré et choisi par l’équipe des soirées Me, Myspace and My Band, s’ensuit un premier remix officiel pour The Replicants. Influencé à ses débuts par la French Touch, Delete prend un tournant décisif en Août 2008 et se consacre dès lors à travailler en studio afin d'approfondir sa démarche artistique. En mai 2009 Pierre Novi continue seul l'aventure et revient avec « Reality » un morceau electro-pop marquant le début d’une nouvelle ère. Entre temps, il aura réalisé des remixes pour Sebastien Tellier ou bien encore Heads We Dance. Delete fait parti de la Geek Conspiracy avec à ses côtés Janedge, Beatle’co et Le Renard. Le collectif à déjà foulé la scène des prestigieux Showcase, Flèche d’or, Nouveau Casino et NY club sur Paris ces derniers mois. Pierre Novi a également été vice Champion de France DMC à seulement 17 ans au côté de DJ Getback et le produit pour les Championnats du Monde IDA qui auront lieu en Décembre en Pologne.

Album de jouissance et de jubilation, Love 2 est un disque qui multiplie les portes d’entrée, les ambiances, les climats. Réparti entre pop song et exploration sonore, mélodie instantanée et bande-son imaginaire, refrain basique et trip mental, Love 2 apparaît déjà comme une nouvelle pièce maîtresse dans une discographie exemplaire. “Surprendre, c’est la base de notre démarche artistique. Nous n’avons plus aucune frustration. C’est comme si nous nous situions au-delà de la barrière de corail. Notre champ des possibles est désormais infini”. Cette liberté absolue, cette puissance libératrice s’entend particulièrement dans le triptyque Tropical Disease, incroyable chevauchée mélodique d’une profondeur exquise. Comme son titre l’indique, l’instrumental tourbillonnant Night Hunter fait référence au beau film de Charles Laughton, tandis que les singles (Doy The Joy, Sing Sang Sung,…) renouent avec l’immédiateté pop dont Air s’est fait le chantre depuis la ritournelle Sexy Boy. En phase avec les sentiments contradictoires et exacerbés de leurs compositeurs, des titres évoquent la perte de repères (Missing The Light Of The Day), l’espoir fugace (Heaven’s Light), un rêve incertain (Be A Bee) et l’amour retrouvé (Love). Entre interrogation existentielle et aliénation émotionnelle, jamais Air ne s’est autant mis à nu. À l’opposé du caractère précieux de l’album précédent, Pocket Symphony, ce disque reflète un romantisme exalté. Love 2 ou la nouvelle formule magique de Air.

Cassius Records démarre sur les chapeaux de roue avec sa première sortie : le maxi "Youth, Speed, Trouble, Cigarettes".. C'est un appel à tous les kids et aux ravers du monde entier, ceux dont le mode de vie se résume à a danser toute la nuit, vivre à 100 à l'heure, avoir des problèmes et fumer clope sur clope. Le maxi est composé de "Youth, Speed, Trouble, Cigarettes.", un morceau très frais qu'ils ont produit le mois dernier et l'excellent "Almost Cut My Hair" de David Crosby, première reprise à la sauce Cassius. D'autres remixes de producteurs qu'ils affectionnent tout particulièrement suivront. Voilà donc la première sortie Cassius Records ! The story begins in the mid-90s, with two boys aged 14 and 15, who met in a local music school. They play stuff from West Side Story, but sport Pearl Jam T-shirts. Ten years down the line and in a more selective spirit, Pierre Laroux and Victor Le Manse release their first album Forty Love producing some of the best twisted music of the decade : a joyful collision of rock, pop, electro and French popular music. Housse De Racket (literally translated as 'racket cover') explain that their choice of band name was much more than a reference to tennis, rather their way of signalling their aim to make a 'racket' of house music itself. Forty Love is an epic album. Lyrically, it is a chaotic love story based on Tennis, Rock, Rivalry and Exile. A concept album in the tradition David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust and Serge Gainsbourg's LʼHomme a la Tete de Choux. However, Housse De Racket made the radical choice of not only telling this story in French, but also in an unconventional way, opening up the horizons of interpretation in the language they use. The album is a fresh take on pop combining influences from the 90s 'French Touch' era to the 1960s melodic French song-writing sensibility and yet crystallized in a modern pop sound. An album of incredible studio performances that the band now reinterpret savagely onstage.
