The Parachute Ending

Dada Life "Just Do The Dada"

NEW YORK – On September 8, The Hours will release underground sensation Dada Life’s debut artist CD Just Do The Dada. They don’t care about genres. They don’t care about smartness. They don’t care about the things you care about. Dada Life just wants to make you jump up and down. Then make you crash into a wall with a smile on your face. Dada Life is the brainchild of Stockholm-based Olle Corneer and Stefan Engblom. In the summer 2006, Dada Life released “Big Time” on Mylo’s Breastfed label and DJs all over got their first taste of the duo. Since then, there has been a steady stream of hit records from “The Great Fashionista Swindle” “Vote Yes” and “Fun Fun Fun” to this spring’s “Happy Hands And Happy Feet” EP. Dada Life’s music is adored by both an eclectic mix of DJ talent – including David Guetta, Tiësto, Eric Prydz, Altern 8, Crookers and Don Rimini – and some of the most discerning underground tastemakers in the world (check out some of the quotes below). Conceptually, Dada Life was inspired by the Dada cultural movement that originally began in Zurich during World War 1. “We don't want to be perceived as arty, but we like the anti-ideas and f*ck-off-attitude of Dada. We have just taken the word Dada and filled it with whatever we like. Like the title track "Just Do The Dada" - it doesn't really mean anything specific. That's also the ideas we want to communicate - the basic concept of Dada Life - anti-everything, f*ck-all, but still not pinpointed. Everybody can do the Dada. But no one really knows what it is. All this has been the idea from the start. Hence older titles "This Machine Kills Breakfasts", "Vote Yes" and "The Great Fashionista Swindle" and new tracks created for the album "Let's Get Bleeped Tonight" and "Happy Hands & Happy Feet." There's a certain attitude to Dada Life, but it's not specific,” Corneer explains. “Just Do The Dada” is released September 8, 2009 on The Hours.

Van She "Ze Vemixes"

On June 12 Van She will release Ze Vemixes, the sweaty, jacking half-cousin to their debut album from last year, V. Ze Vemixes is that record sent through a shredder, with the pieces reassembled and fed through a bank of effects and filters, most notably that effect known in the biz as "Techno This Bitch !" Ze Vemixes features album tracks, a live favourite, and one completely new track as a completely invigorated set of slamming modern techno, a selection of Van She hits given the famous Van She Tech pummelling into the kind of jacking disco that everyone wants to be at and no one wants to leave.

Phoenix

Long Distance Call, Too Young, If I Ever Feel Better, Everything is Everything, Rally, Consolation Prizes…tout y passe ou presque.

Nid & Sancy "Yeah Yeah Yes"

Le résultat est franchement bigger than life !

Frankmusik "Confusion Girl"

Don Diablo doesn't just deliver dancefloor destroyers like his forthcoming single "Hooligans", as we've heard before with his massive remixes for ''One eskimO'' and ''Newton Faulkner''. He once again shows his more epic side by delivering this gem of a remix for Frankmusik's forthcoming single "Confusion Girl", which will hit the streets July 6. The original is co-produced by the legend that is Stuart Price and taken from the forthcoming Frankmusik debut album "Complete Me" (release date : July 13). Don Diablo adds extra strings and guitars to the original as well as a big break, a smooth bassline and cut up vocals. The end result : Don Diablo likes to slow dance with Frankmusik.

Making Of

The Lemonheads "Varshons"

The Lemonheads have signed to Brooklyn, NY-based The End Records and will be releasing their long-awaited covers collection, Varshons, on June 23rd 2009. It makes sense that the new album from The Lemonheads sounds like a mix tape slipped to you by a music-obsessed friend anxious to turn you on to something new. In fact, the idea for the band’s new covers record was inspired by Gibby Haynes, ringmaster of the Butthole Surfers, who for years has made mixes for his longtime friend Evan Dando. “Making a good mix is an art, and Gibby has it down” says Dando. “I thought it would be fun to share these songs with other people like he shared them with me. So I picked the ‘greatest hits’ from his mixes and covered them, along with a few other songs I always wanted to play.Varshons was produced by Haynes and features Dando along with Vess Ruhtenburg (bass) and Devon Ashley (drums). The collection is filled with strange bedfellows - from G.G. Allin to Texas troubadour Townes Van Zandt and garage rockers The Green Fuz. The Lemonheads make each track their own, with help from actress Liv Tyler, singing back up on Leonard Cohen’sHey, That’s No Way To Say Goodbye” and Kate Moss, who sings over the dance groove of Arling & Cameron’s “Dirty Robot” which also features lead guitar by John Perry on loan from The Only Ones.

Rob Threezy "The Change Up"

Nightshifters is proud to present the debut release by Rob Threezy ! Hailing from the South side of Chicago, Rob Threezy is part of a new generation of Chicago producers who are pushing the boundaries of club music, ripping apart borders between Baltimore, Dubstep, Electro and House. Hot off remixing Blaqstarr and Diplo’sGet Off” on Mad Decent and part of the awesome Brick Bandits crew and releases, Threezy’s track “The Chase” showed up on almost every blog and celebrity DJ playlist in 2008. But now it’s 2009 and it’s Threezy’s time to shine ! The Change Up is his first feature release with 4 tracks of House and Bass inspired Bmore and 3 incredible remixes. “Dark Night” is a moody wobbly bass-line Bmore jam, more minimal that expected with a sort of light-rave feeling, while “Jingle Jams” retro drums and house-organs will be comfortable in almost any electro, techno or Bmore set. “You Bad” is already a staple track for many DJ’s with a mix of ghetto sirens, gunshots and a frenetic Piano that always gets hands in the air. But it’s the revolutionary title track, “The Change Up” which promises to turn heads, mixing indyrock bass with Rave inspired synths, urban claps and wiggly bass to deliver one of the years most exciting new sounds. Complimenting Threezy are three awesome remixes. Jokers Of The Scene take a moment out of their busy globetrotting schedule to deliver one of their best remixes ever. They take the Change up and make it a techno-rave prime-time moment with a buildup that’s sure to get siren’s blasting and sweat pumping. DJ Sega takes us back to Philly on his “You Bad” remix while young Trouble and Bass upstart Mikix The Cat throws some wonky synths around with his remix of “You Bad.” Yummy !

Rob Threezy - The Change Up (Jokers Of The Scene Remix)

Includes Remixes by Larry Tee & Alexander Technique, Joe And Will Ask, Kolombo, SLOK, Mom & Dad and Jaimie Fanatic. ”In My Blood“ is the second single from Sharam Jey's upcoming new artist-album which is out later this year. The track features Nik Valentino, leadsinger of Australian Indie-Rock band ”Lost Valentinos” who just caused a stir with their latest release out on Kitsune. The Song is one of Sharams favourites from the new album, and the comprehensive remix-package is the icing on the cake ! Legendary New York based DJ and producer Larry Tee did a great job with the help of Alexander Technique (Djs Are Not Rockstars) on his Nu-Disco version of the track. Both are well-known for their latest work for Princess Superstar. The guys from Joe And Will Ask have had releases out on labels such as Kitsune. Labelbuddy Kolombo did a great job - as usual. He’s had releases out on Turbo recently just like french DJ SLOK. King Kong is alway up for pushing new talents: this time Mom And Dad from LA contribute their fresh talent to a high quality mix. Last but not least we have Jaimie Fanatic who after his remix for of Sharam's last single ”Monday Morning“ also did a great job for the second single from the new album.

Breakbot - Penelope Pitstop :

High Rankin "No Money for Drugs"

With the Cheap Thrills stable going from strength to strength, Hervé has yet another exciting new talent to showcase. Josh was really impressed with the versatility and breadth of influences this young and exciting talent has to offer here is the first salvo with plenty more to come ! High Rankin is from sunny Brighton and started to grab the attention of dance lovers worldwide with his rocking dubstep remixes and productions, most recently dazzling us on Kevin Rudolf’s ‘Welcome To The World’. Don Diablo has been asked to put his magic touch on Dragonette’s forthcoming single ‘Fixin to Thrill’, which celebrates their return to the scene. It has been two years since electropop band Dragonette first burst on to the scene with their debut album ‘Galore’, which Popjustice called “the best album of 2007” and the Guardian called “ace shagtronic pop.” Don Diablo adds a lot of funk to the original and delivers a remix that will rock your world. The single will be out at the end of may, and Dragonette’s 2nd album, also titled ‘Fixin To Thrill’, will be out at the end of the summer.

Röyksopp "The Girl And The Robot"

Kris Menace "Metropolis EP"

Metropolis follows the hugely popular 'Scaler' that had everyone from Soulwax and Erol Alkan through to Style Of Eye and A-Trak claiming it was one of their biggest tunes. Metropolis however is no simple club track. Inspired by Kris delving into his back catalogue to compile his album he decided to create a track that encapsulated the joy and energy he felt when he first discovered house music. With a sense of drama and melody few producers can match, Metropolis is pure class. Featuring the original plus a ‘Night’ version for the clubs and a ‘Day’ version for er daytime listening remixes come in from Joe and Will Ask? who supply a trippy, electronic work out plus long-time Menace cohort Serge Sentiago who provides an Italo Boot Edit. Rounding off the package nicely is Zoo Brazil who tease out a darker monster that is perfect for the bigger dancefloors.

The Bumblebeez "Misfit"

The Bumblebeez are an eccentric brother/sister sucker punch unlike any other. No messin'. Though they've been fittingly described as "musical coleslaw", this delicious description is somewhat of an understatement once their back catalogue and erratic brilliance live has been experienced/witnessed. While Chris Colonna has recently donned his producer hat and helmed the controls on the highly imaginative new Wolf & Cub record, he's managed to find some time to drop an exclusive track for the V Raw project, entitled "Misfit". Made on his Nintendo DSi using the Korg DS software with vox and drums (via the system's inbuilt audio player), the crunchy little 8-bit banger is now out in the ether for all and sundry to absorb. In addition to the track itself, an exclusive film made by the Glue Society inspired by "Misfit" has been created, showcasing the process that goes into a music video, highlighting the many roles and individual skills that equate to the "onscreen magic" that is generally taken for granted. Stay tuned.

Lenka "Trouble is a Friend"

Australian songstress Lenka, formerly the voice for indie band Decoder Ring, moved to LA last year and recorded her solo debut. Her superb quirky voice has been described as 'breathy & strangely haunting' and her song 'The Show' was #1 on iTunes US. Here is a collection of remixes for the second single 'Trouble is a Friend'. Washington DC's Nadastrom (Dubsided) deliver a chunky Dub with a driving beat while Australia's Paul Mac brings a funky re-rub. London's Sam Roqwell & I Sancho (DJ Sam Young, whose new single 'Peep This' drops on Plant Music later this month) comes with two big room mixes & French New Yorker Japanster brings a distorted side chain vibe on his mix.

Omnikrom "Salir L'Ecran"

The three Omnikrom boys are back with their second album, “Comme à la télévision” proving that they’re not only men of taste, but that electro pop can be profound. The title track, “Comme à la télévision“ (which has been available for download on iTunes since January 30), along with the album of the same name, produced by none other than Megasoid, comes out in stores on Tuesday, May 19 on Saboteur Musique (Numéro#, Champion). Linso Gabbo, Jeanbart and Figure8 haven’t rested since the release of their first album “Trop Banane !” in May 2007, which won a Félix in the category Hip Hop Album of the Year that same year. There’s no doubt that it was that record which earned them enough recognition to send them touring all over the province (over 100 dates in Quebec) and Europe. They subsequently scored a hat trick (or, more appropriately, a ball cap trick), appearing in 2008 at no less than three Francofolies, in La Rochelle, SPA and Montreal. Their love of television has only grown with stardom, as we saw in their popular web TV series, “Backstage avec Omnikrom” which was broadcast this winter over 10 weeks on 33mag.com. After collaborating with Ghislain Poirier, Numéro# and TTC, “Comme à la télévision” has its own share of pleasant surprises. On this new opus, Omnikrom treats us to “Vedettes” where the Ste-Catherines punks sing with an air of euro dance enhanced by guitars; or with Cœur de pirate lending her voice on the track, “Dans tes Rêves” an electro ballad that’s sure to be heard on dance floors everywhere this summer. Jeanbart and Linso Gabbo also share their feelings on “Feel Collins” and even tackle the theme of the fallen man on “Plus tard” demonstrating that even electro pop has a serious side. Also worth noting is Tepr (Yelle’s producer) on “Je crie encore“, Ghislain Poirier’s collaboration on the track, “Kryptonite“ as well as Le Matos’ on “Les Tronches.“ The whole album was produced by Montreal duo Megasoid (Robert Squire AKA Sixtoo and Hadji Bakara), know for their work with the most popular producers from the four corners of the globe, including : Medhi and Busy P (Ed Banger), Daedelus, The Cool Kids, Kid Koala and Modeselektor, amongst others, so it’s safe to assume that “Comme à la télévision“ will attract the attention of fans of the genre from well beyond our belle province.

Just A Band

The abrasive duo from Bordeaux, Just A Band, is back in spring with a 3rd record out in May, 18th, including the bouncy club hit "To Hell with Gravity" and a rework piece by Stereoheroes ! After their first two releases "We are" and "Burn it out", a whole bunch of remixes (such as Acid Jacks, Thieves like Us, Alex Gopher, Cicada), after touring europe and France, Just a band is now reaching summits beyond any expectations. On this special occasion, the band is throwing a release party at the 4sans the 22nd in Bordeaux, the club that has seen the baby grow ! Ebony Bones undoubtedly has a unique and special voice which not many others can match. Her new single 'The Muzik' demonstrates her special talent with this highly energetic tune. Very in-your-face with crowds of people shouting at you in the beginning, whistles blowing, then the fast paced drum beat, prominent bass line and rhythm guitar exploding into a funky post-punk tune. This song really accentuates the vocals of Ebony Bones. It will be no surprise if this becomes the hit of the summer. From the second I put it on I knew this was going to be a good song and I was dancing in my chair until it finished. It's catchy but musically deep - a long-awaited summer tune.

Tommy Sparks : Album

Tommy Sparks self-released debut single 'I'm A Rope' caught the attention of everyone earlier this year and now the eagerly anticipated debut album - featuring new single, 'She's Got Me Dancing', looks set to elevate the charismatic newcomer to the next level. Written by Tommy and produced with Mike Crossey (Arctic Monkeys, Razorlight & Foals) - the pop star in waitings long player is full to the rafters with bite size nuggets of goodness. From the anthemic stadium fillers like 'These Things Happen' to the Talking Heads inspired 'Much Too Much', the euphoric future single 'Brand New Love' and the intoxicating Chic, MGMT and Franz melting pot that is new single - 'She's Got Me Dancing', Tommy's proves he's as versatile as he is brilliant. The debut album fits just as snugly in a ram-jammed super club as it would at the grimiest of rock festivals, or in a cosy bedroom, for that matter. Quite simply Tommy's tunes are here to remind people of the universal power of music - to make you move. Street Date : 25 May.

TONITE WADKLUB CONFETTI

JACONFETTI, You maybe remember that more than a year ago we invited two lovely ladies from Denmark to perform at a Wadklub Party at Paris Paris and it ended up being one of the best parties that year. JaConfetti is now back ! Josephine Philip aka Yvone Coco, and Ane Trolle aka Ella Mau will be performing with a DJset and Mc’ing all night long. In their luggage, both Josephine Philip and Ane Trolle have hard-working experience from the underground music environment in Copenhagen. Many genres and musical expressions have been tested and developed throughout the past ten years in the rhythms of hip-hop, break beat, dub, reggae, electro, house and drum’n’ bass. Josehine was for several years a part of the now disbanded all-girl ska band Favelachic and Fabula Beat. Along with the DJ Sensimilla, Josephine Philip also formed “Dullen & Dyken” dj team. Ane Trolle began her journey at the age of 19, performing with a range of DJs and sample artists in the field of electronic and urban genres. She had a highly successful cooperation with Martin Sibenhaar and Trentemøller. More recently, Trolle//Sibenhaar made National Danish Radio fall over with the catchy tune “Sweet Dogs” by Trolle Siebenhaar. “Moan” by Trentemøller and “White Lillies” by Peder both feature the unique voice of Ane Trolle. Since last year they released their debut album “The Rainbow Express”, which – in relation to both music and text , sends the listener to the other side of the rainbow…

Dragonette "Fixin to Thrill

Speaking of fortune seeking, our dear Will Stapleton has gone off to seek his. He has gone to pursue his career as a solo artist, so look out for him. This means that when next the Dragon takes to the stage, you will find the towering Chris Hugget on the guitar knocking your rock-sox off. This is also a fact ! The third stone cold truth is that Dragonette is taking this show on the road and we hope you don't have to go too far to have a night out on the town that includes us. We've done some collaborating with some cool cats, we've made some videos, commissioned some remixes from people we love, and all of this will be soon available for public consumption. So... in general the message is : "We Are Coming to Get You". This is very much a fact, so we'll see you soon. Watch out for the commercial release of Fixin to Thrill (the single) in the last week of May, and then for Fixin to Thrill (the album) in Aug/Sept.

Eclier "Alpha River"

Le premier single sera Audacity Of Huge.
