The name of Belgian artist Dopefish (who also goes by the name DJ System-D in drum and bass music), has been a force on the electronic, dance, hip-hop and drum and bass scenes in his native Belgium from 1992 on. He is known for his wide-ranging sets that include everything from breaks, house/electro, baile funk and hip-hop, miami bass and grime/dubstep, and capable of rockin’ all types of parties, from small hottest clubs to big festivals audiences ! In addition to his formidable mixing and scratching skills, Dopefish is founder of his own label Dopefish A.U.D.I.O. he started in 2007. The label already includes no less than eighteen releases so far. His production skills are eclectic but always effective and giving an energic party vibe.

When the World Comes Down is the third studio album by American rock band The All-American Rejects, released on December 16, 2008. It was produced by Eric Valentine who has recorded with the likes of Maroon 5. When the World Comes Down was the band's first album that was made using tape to record the songs.[citation needed] The album was named one of the Alternative Press most anticipated albums of the year. It's been a couple of years since Swedish whistlers Peter Bjorn and John conquered the universe with "Young Folks", although that song is still somehow stuck in our heads. They've toured, they've released a limited-edition mostly-instrumental album, Peter Morén released a solo album, and "Young Folks" showed up in the very first scene of the first episode of "Gossip Girl". But now it's time to throw down and drop the for-real Writer's Block follow-up. Wichita will release Living Thing, the next PB&J album, in the UK on March 30. It will be released in the U.S. on March 31 via Almost Gold Recordings/StarTime International. PB&J are offering a free download of the song "Lay It Down" for the price of an email address. Avant d’être une aberration grammaticale, La Roux est un duo pop anglais, souvent réduit à sa seule chanteuse, Elly Jackson, 21 ans et déjà programmée pour tout renverser sur son passage en 2009. En plein dans la hype qui, cette année plus que jamais, voit revenir les années 80, la synthé-pop et même Depeche Mode (en vrai). Deux singles à quelques mois d’intervalle, « Quicksand » et « In For The Kill », non seulement en phase avec l’époque mais aussi redoutablement efficaces : saura-t-on résister à La Roux ? Réponse en forme de joker normand : ça dépend. C’est pas qu’on vire complètement schizo, mais La Roux, on l’aime et on la déteste exactement pour les mêmes raisons. Passage en revue de l’étendue des dégâts. Repérée par le label électro-branché Kitsuné, qui choisit « Quicksand » pour une de ses compilations (amorçant au passage un virage « chanson populaire »), La Roux s’est fait rattraper par Polydor qui sort son deuxième single « In For The Kill » le 2 Mars avec deux remixes : Skream & The Twelves, avant de bientôt lancer l’album « Bulletproof ». Simian Mobile Disco have invited progressive death metal electro 12 piece Chrome Hoof and hot disco newcomers Fan Death to support them. Following a winter season performing with The Prodigy and Hot Chip at the Big Day Out Festival in Australia, SMD are back in the UK in early February for this hugely anticipated one off NME Awards show and are ready to blow the roof off 1a Camden High Street. It is bound to be one of the most exciting nights of the NME Shockwaves Awards Tour 2009. Their album will follow later in the year.

Untill last year "Sound" and "Stereo" were just two words that popped up every once in a while in your hifi-installation's manual. In the beginning of 2008 those two words stopped being just random : "Sound Of Stereo" saw the light of day. In only a few months time they conquered the hearts of music lovers all over the world. The Belgian scene also responded really well to their presence and they were noticed rather fast by the famous Lektroluv label. In november their first EP came out and had massive response in Belgium and abroad. One of the singles on that EP – Supah Dupah – is said to be played over 100 times each weekend in Belgium alone. A follow-up EP is nothing more than a logic continuation of this succes. The new single " Heads Up! " is already being tracklisted by the likes of Crookers and Bloody Beetroots. The Bloody Beetroots liked the track so much that they decided to make a remix of it, as well as DJ Manaia, a Portuguese wonderboy from the Kuduro-surroundings of Buraka Som Sistema. At the end of February the new EP will be presented at Culture Club Ghent, one of Belgium's most legendery clubs, where international bigshots such as 2 Many DJ's and The Glimmers had a residency. Lost Valentinos have conspired with legendary journeyman Kimberly Isaac Moyes (of the exalted duo The Presets), and the notorious twosome Nicholas Littlemore and Peter Mayes (of PNAU and Empire of the Sun fame), on their debut and sophomore offerings respectfully. Both bodies of work received widespread acclaim, gained them valuable knowledge, and saw them forge the second ever franco-australien relationship with avant-garde curators of Music, Kitsuné (the first being made by the frontiersmen known as Cut Copy). Lost Valentinos are here with new riches, new tales, told in a new language. Serio will be released on iTunes on the 28th of February and in limited edition CD single format on the 28th of March on etcetc, through Universal Music Australia. Taken from their forthcoming debut album Cities of Gold (produced by Ewan Pearson), due out mid 2009.

Trois ans après Sexor, ce nouvel essai, hautement désiré par la faune électronique aisée et bien vêtue, accueille les participations de Soulwax, Jesper Dahlback, Gonzales, Jori Hulkonnen, Jake Shears (Scissor Sisters) et James Murphy. Mais qu'en dit donc le principal intéréssé, de ce disque ? Ça par exemple : "J'ai l'impression d'être devenu ce que Léonard Cohen serait s'il s'achetait un jetski muni d'un sidecar détachable. Ou un tandem sur lequel les pédaleurs seraient face à face. J'appelle ça un "spicycle". Allez comprendre. Freeland - Under Control

The name of electronica and dance music luminary Adam Freeland will probably be more than familiar to you, after being one of the genre’s harbingers for over a decade. However, with the release of his new single ‘Under Control’, he makes his eagerly anticipated return to the fold in the form of ‘Freeland’, with his exciting new band.
‘Under Control’ is the first single from Freeland's new album ‘Cope™’, due for release on Marine Parade in June. It demonstrates the infamous producer/DJ decisively soldering club-friendly grooves with raw musical interplay, announced immediately in the martial drums/bass stomp that opens the song. It also heralds another landmark in frontman Kurt Baumann's vocals the haunting, distinctively powerful voice of the new discovery who will serve as front man for Freeland's eponymous new touring band. Meanwhile, Spinnerette / Distillers guitarist Tony Bevilacqua ignites incendiary guitar angles as counterpoint to the kind of jaded lyrics. Marilyn Manson/Nine Inch Nails cohort Twiggy Ramirez lays down a driving, ominous bassline, and DEVO legend Jerry Casale provides background vocals. Filled with paranoiac, satirical wordplay and skewed political commentary that complements the futuristic yet dissident sonics, ‘Under Control’ ultimately proves that rarity in club music : an anti-anthem with a brain, yet with beats ballsy enough to crush dance floors in a neighborhood disco near you. The release is complimented with a phenomenal remix package including Alex Metric, Zombie Nation, Goldenbug & Evil Nine.

Le “meilleur groupe français du monde” a confié au NME que son prochain effort, Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, s'inscrivait dans la lignée de l'inaugural United (2000). Pour corroborer la chose, c'est le collaborateur des débuts Philippe Zdar (moitié de Cassius) qui a co-produit l'album tant attendu le 25 mai, sans que l'on sache encore sur quel label Phoenix se posera. Au sujet de ce disque “Rapide et Intense”, le chanteur Thomas Mars Coppola précise : “Il a beaucoup de points communs avec United, notre premier essai. Nous n'avions pas vraiment d'idée directrice quand nous avons commencé l'enregistrement. Le dernier album (ndlr. It's Never Been Like That en 2006) était ancré dans le présent, celui-ci est tourné vers le futur”. Le futur de Phoenix, c'est aussi cette compilation chaperonnée pour le compte de Kitsuné. Où le précieux label français a laissé carte blanche au quatuor pour compiler les raretés, vieilleries et autres hymnes pop qui ont orienté sa carrière. Innerpartysystem (pronounced "Inner Party System") is a United States rock band. In live performance, the group consists of Patrick Nissley, Jared Piccone, Kris Barman and Jesse Cronan. Explaining the origins of the band name, Piccone is quoted as saying : "In George Orwell's '1984' social classes were defined as the inner party, outer party, and the working class. It sounds really 'holier than thou' when you say it, we're really not this full of ourselves, but we liked the idea of creating this full, multimedia, over-stimulating, elitist environment that we were trying to invite everyone into. It's the ironic elitist class". In late 2008 the band set up a remix MySpace page which has been regualy updated with new remixes, including The Killers track Human and Ladyhawke track Paris Is Burning. As an added bonus, we've got Trouble's "Chase Money" revved up by Innerpartysystem (who recently experimented with stripped down sounds by using i-phones to craft their beats). It's a bawdy, bass-walloping raver, complete with cash register cha-chings, vocal barks and burps, and synth swells. Both are guaranteed party grinds of 2009.

Beaucoup de temps s’est écoulé depuis leur classique “1st Album” qui a marqué toute une génération. Aujourd’hui, ils sont enfin de retour avec un nouvel album.
Miss Kittin & The Hacker sont de retour avec “Two”, 8 ans après le “culte” “First Album” qui avait marqué tout une génération. Le duo présente enfin “Two”, second album peaufiné tout au long de l’année 2008 et que l’on peut appréhender comme la synthèse de leurs carrières communes respectives. Stylistiquement, soniquement, vocalement et mélodiquement, “Two” résume parfaitement les 25 dernières années de musiques électroniques, vues à travers le prisme d’un ado fan d’électro / synth pop / EBM et indus dans les années 80 qui prendra la claque techno et rave au début des années 90; puis grandira en tant qu’artiste à la fin des 90s avec un hommage modernisé aux sons de sa jeunesse pour transcender le tout en 2009. Acid Girls paints the song in loud fluorescent colours and rips it up in an explosive finale. “If I Know You” est le tout dernier extrait d’Apocalypso l’album des Presets. Avec son ambiance sombre et poignante, “If I Know You” respire les regrets, les ballades nocturnes solitaires et les histoires de coeur qui finissent mal. Afin de recréer l’atmosphère pesante qui se dégage du morceau, les Presets se sont entourés de la réalisatrice française Eva Husson. Le clip est un mélange d’ados banlieusards, d’images de Los Angeles et de pas de danse explosifs, le tout sur le son électro des Presets. Comme le veut la tradition, “If I Know You” est passé par la case remix. Tom Middleton transforme les problèmes de coeur en extase avec une bombe de remix house, pendant que le duo Italo disco Heartbreak revoit “If I Know You” façon électro disco old-school. Vince Clarke, ancien producteur de Depeche Mode/Yazoo/Erasure, a retrouvé le chemin du studio pour nous concocter une version breakbeat voodoo qui s’éloigne divinement des sentiers battus et de l’univers des Presets. Via Tania et Jori Hulkkonen ont mis leur talent en commun pour nous offrir un coup de génie analogique sous le nom de Tania & Jori. “If I Know You” des Presets, sera disponible fin Mars chez Modular.

The song was originally released last year as a limited edition single and has since gone on to become a live favourite and dancefloor hit around the country. 2008 proved to be a busy and ultimately successful year for the New Zealander Pip Brown. In December she released her most successful single to date, My Delirium, which has gone on to sell over 30,000 copies with her album featuring in many of the end of year 'best of' polls for both album and singles. Following on from our last review of the Shinichi Osawa album, is the second single to be released, called "Push". You may have noticed that I didn't talk about "Push" in the album review, as I was saving my review for here and "Push" is great. Definitely one of the top notch tracks from the LP and definitely worthy of being released. Push is a catchy electro-pop song featuring the bold vocal talent of Ania. You'll even find that this song is familiar in parts, particularly since it has a similar vocal melody to Skee-Lo's "I Wish". The EP comes with the Tronik Youth, Alex Gopher and La Mode remixes, with the Tronik Youth mix, a pumping fast paced electro version with hard driving synths, the Alex Gopher mix being a slower tech-driven track and the La Mode mix showing more of a hard and heavy side. 'Invaders Must Die' is 40 minutes of having your head battered by future nostalgia, serotonin levels twisted by feel-good horrorcore and your synapses snapped by whiplash attitude. It's the sound of The Prodigy mixing up genres, contorting the past and rewiring the future, ram-raiding through the tranquility of music's status quo like a blot on the landscape of England's dreaming. The first thing you notice about Invaders Must Die it is how complete it sounds, a consistent collection of bangers all firing from the same cannon. The next thing you notice about Invaders Must Die is just how melodic it is. Not just melody in the vocal sense but in the heyday-of-hardcore keyboard-hookline sense. Yes, if The Prodigy have learned anything from the hugely successful live shows was that those old skool rave anthems still rock hard - and are every bit as iconic to their generation as punk was to the nation's forty-somethings. So Invaders Must Die is awash with references to the free party generation, thundering along like the mother of all E-rushes, all hairs tingling, spine jumping and lips buzzing. But not a retroactive arms-in-the-air, water-sharing nostalgia trip, but a set fuelled by punk's saliva-dripping rabid snarl. Take 'Colours', the first tune The Prodigy recorded for this set with it's 1992 polysynth riffing that sounds like The Stranglers' 'No More Heroes' parachuted into the middle of a Castlemorton circa 1992. In Sneaky’s native Australia, ‘I Love It’ holds the record for the longest charting single in Australian history at 73 weeks. In the UK, the single release follows the Radio 1 B-listed single ‘UFO’, which was also made the station’s Weekend Anthem and led to the band performing a session for Zane Lowe. On Wednesday 11 March, Sneaky Sound System will headline London’s Shepherds Bush Empire. The new live date follows three sold-out London shows for Sneaky in 2008, including Koko in November. The band were also Sam Sparro’s special guests on his recent UK tour and performed alongside Get Cape, Wear Cape Fly on the Skins Tour.

After 3 smashing EPs on Boysnoize Records, remixes for Chromeo, The Faint and The Teenagers and live gigs with Soulwax, Trevor Jackson, A-Trak, Ivan Smagghe and the Ed Banger Crew, Shadow Dancer finally present their long awaited debut album. “Golden Traxe” is a culmination of the UK duo's electronica, cut-up techno, acid house and space disco sounds. Already loved and greatly supported by a range of classy producers such as erol Alkan, Mr. Oizo, Modeselektor and Soulwax, this album takes the UK duo to the next level. Shadow Dancer began in the summer of 2006 almost by accident. Brothers Paul and Alan Farrier had been writing music since childhood drawn by their love of artists such as Jean-Michel Jarre, Kraftwerk, Human League and Pet Shop Boys to follow synthesizers rather than guitars. Although the pop and video game music of the ’80s was their initial inspiration, it was the sounds coming out of Detroit (Underground Resistance, Axis, Planet E), Chicago (Trax, Relief) and the European techno scene (Warp, Ideal, Tresor, Basic Channel, R&S, Harthouse) that started an obsession with electronic dance music. And, having previously created tracks using tape overdubs and a limited sampler, they started to build up a small studio of second-hand synths. Originally from Liverpool, the brothers were pulled towards Manchester in the ’90s by it’s musical legacy where they still live and produce. Since their live debut as Shadow Dancer supporting Soulwax Nite Versions Tour, The Whip in Manchester on New Year’s Eve 2006, the brothers have played (both live and DJ sets) alongside Boys Noize, Trevor Jackson, A-Trak, Radioclit, Ivan Smagghe, D.I.M., Sinden, Surkin, Para One, Housemeister, Crookers, The Glimmers, Teenage Bad Girl, Filthy Dukes, Riton, Mixhell and many others.
