Diplo hooks up with his dancing buddy Blaqstarr for the latest Mad Decent outing with a wickedly cool nasty-house cut backed with a Rob 3 Remix on Pink Vinyl and loaded with an exclusive side for use by the Serato heads. The pair's original version of 'Get Off' is a sexy neon flavoured hip-houser with serious early 90's attitude kinda similar to Radioslave's Cabana trax series but more poppy. Rob 3 revises the cut for the Bmore crowd with the standard breaks splattered with Bassline style warps and rave stabs for the party. We've only got a limited number of these bad boys and you know they're gonna fly.

Jeune artiste parisien de la scène electro-pop, Allure transcrit dans sa musique toute la richesse de son parcours. Il a déjà exploré de nombreux styles (formation classique, jazz, hip-hop) mais c'est la musique électronique qui depuis 2007 lui procure l'énergie et la créativité dont il a besoin. Musicien et compositeur, il utilise le vibraphone en parallèle des machines afin d'habiller ses morceaux d'une sonorité classieuse et envoûtante. Cultivant l'art des contraires, ses productions sont à la fois douces mais incisives, élégantes et dansantes, subtiles mais accessibles. Une démarche qu'il développe actuellement pour la création de son premier album tout en affinant le LiveSet qu'il présentera à partir de ce début d'année 2009 ! Allure, c'est une recette « sucrée-groovée » qui rafraichît la French-Touch en lui donnant des accents de Pop et de Jazz. Un mélange qui se corse sur les dancefloors et qui déclenche un mouvement frénétique de la tête et du corps. Just Dance !

Damn Arms return from their cosmic hiatus on the shores of Babylon sucking down pina coladas, hanging out with Carribean queens, listening to Billy Ocean, eating tropical hotdogs, smelling the scents of sparkle-dust and riding the light fantastic to release their new ‘man-I-feel-real-good’ holiday anthem, “Destination”, on BangGang 12inches. “Destination” marks the band’s shedding of their former twisted-new-rave-crunch exterior for a more refined, filtered ozzie-yacht-house sound. A two-part summer odyssey, Destination Pt1 is a blissed out digital-love serenade, a nautical dance ballad, the ultimate wacked out cruise ship club music… loaded with claps clap claps, vocoders, soaring synths and flute solos. Part II is a revision of the first chapter, with bigger breakdowns and even more epic synth solos : the bolder more chugging sequel. After touring with Klaxons, Cut Copy and Midnight Juggernauts this year the band managed to lose two members in their travels, so “Destination” also sees the band slimline down the current two-person format. ‘Destination’ is hitting your shores this southern-hemisphere summer !

Magic Arm is a 21st century one man band, a sonically curious soul who fuses folk, rock and effervescent electronics. Samuel Beam of Iron & Wine has hailed him "the master of the loop pedal" and in this lies the secret of Magic Arm's enthralling live performances. When Magic Arm plays live, he feeds his mic, guitar and keyboard through the aforementioned pedal. To build up his songs, he then has to play different parts from each instrument, through the pedal, sampling and looping the fragments as he goes, in order to weave together the constituent parts of his songs. “Buying a Yamaha CS-10 in Cash Converter was the biggest influence on my sound” he says, before talking about his intense love of Gwen Stefani, Peaches and Dizzie Rascal. “ I’m literally trying to write pop music, but it never comes out that way. There’s always a dark edge to it.” 'Daft Punk Is Playing At My House' is taken from the forthcoming Bootsy Bootsy EP, released February 23rd on Switchflicker/Peacefrog. The debut album Do Lists, Do Something is due for release in May.

Leur premier single “Get It Right” est une pop song aux sonorités électro qui a pour but de faire danser dans les clubs, ceux-là même où Madonna règne en maîtresse. Un son hédoniste, fédérateur, joyeux, enivrant. Remixé par Felix Da Housecat, “Get It Right” se transforme en turbine électro overdrive mécanique, qui sans perdre son côté enivrant grâce aux synthés lancinants, gagne en efficacité. Le duo anglais Heartbreak donne une relecture soft disco, qui ré-utilise les basses et les vocoders originaux pour pousser le titre dans des retranchements 80’s synthétiques et tribaux. And neither is it the Midfield General on some motivational crusade, suggesting that. Y’know, you need to love your self before you reach your inner champion type thing. The title actually comes from a song by the brilliant Lucky Jim, who Damian had signed to Skint back in 2003. Lucky Jim were something of a departure for Skint in that they are a bit kinda, folkie rockie, but singer Gordon Grahams amazing lyrics and melodies captivated. In a blatant incidence of Damian exploiting his position as their A&R man he tried out the vocals from Lucky Jims original Love Thy Self over his own backing track and it just worked a treat. And the new track became a firm favourite off his album General Disarray. This package contains two new mixes from Damian, the ‘Disco-ish Mix’ is a lush disco-tinged throbber while the 'Tinnitus Mix' is more of a jacking affair interspersed with some tinnitus inducing noise. The package also contains two fine remixes. Straight outta Dublin comes the Arveene & Misk Mix, an epic Spaghetti Western banger if ever such a thing existed. While Tronik Youth comes up with a house-ier mix with excellent quirky melodies, builds and drops.

29 year old producer Hervé is a man of many names. You may know him as one half of The Count and Sinden duo and their world beating ‘Beeper’ EP on Domino Records. Or perhaps you know him from one of his many aliases, like Action Man, Young Lovers, Dead Soul Brothers and Voodoo Chilli or his super-group Machines Don’t Care. You may also know him as a remixer nonpareil, re-jigging everyone from Bloc Party and The Chemical Brothers through to Mark Ronson, Roisin Murphy and New Young Pony Club. But it is this free-wheeling, all encompassing ethos that has made him one of the most exciting things to happen to dance-floors in some time his music is joyous, wide-ranging, multicultural and all-round damn good fun, it’s Ghetto Bass. It’s this attitude which is borne out by this magnificently diverse DJ mix, a mouth watering spread of 36 tracks over two CDs which doesn’t so much break down barriers, it blows them wide open. The machine-gun beats of SebastiAn’s remix of The Kills’ ‘Cheap and Cheerful’ sidles up next to the bonkers and madly infectious ‘Money’ by NASA (which corrals David Byrne, Seu Jorge and Ras Congo altogether), the dubstep smoulder of Skream’s 'Filth' sits comfortably with Buraka Som Sistema’s low-slung tropical funk, Mr Oizo’s dance-floor detonating 'Gay Dentist' cosies up to DJ Funk’s anthemic reworking of 'Let There Be Light' and Hervé’s many remixes are sprinkled liberally between the cream of the dance crop to produce a defiantly unique and marvellously varied sonic odyssey which gives weight to critics’ claims that he is “London’s hottest DJ” (Rolling Stone).
2009 will not only see Hervé release his debut mix compilation ‘Ghetto Bass’ but The Count & Sinden album will be released via Domino Records, the debut Hervé artist album drops later in the year and there is also a 2nd Machines Don’t Care album in the pipeline. I firmly believe (and I’m sure Mark will back me up on this) that White Lies is one of *the* bands to watch in 2009. I can’t wait for their album to drop! ‘To Lose My Life’ is out on January 19th (March 17th in the USA) in digital & CD formats, as well as a deluxe 7-inch single box set. The album is spread out over 5 7-inch discs, with a bonus 6th disc featuring exclusive demo versions of ‘The Price of Love’ and ‘Nothing To Give’. The set is preceded by the release of title single ‘To Lose My Life’ on January 12th. The fourth release on Phantasy Sound is the dramatic volley of drums, FX and MC Austin Boston that is 'AA 24/7'. A throwback to the early 1990s, it's electrifyingly catchy and the debut production from Dutch duo, Dance Area. Dirk Boogie and Mollono Van Bass hail from Utrect in Holland but 'AA 24/7' was born in the soon-to-be-no-more End nightclub in London where Austin works . "I met Austin in The End Club and recorded his rap on my iPhone," recalls Dirk of the chance meeting. "When I got back home I played it to Mollono, we went to the studio and 2 hours later we had the track. We handed it to Erol when he played our home town and then we signed with the label two days later."

Yo Majesty's Shunda K recently hit the studio with Brooklyn-based beatmaker Kotchy. The resulting Le Passion EP blows through an impressively large range of styles over the course of four tracks, covering smooth R&B, soul, slick hip-hop, and one cut from Kotchy that we'll file on the "experimental electronic" shelf. Love is, according to a recent post by Kotchy, the central theme on the release, tying the tracks together. A street date for the EP is still in the works. Since Kotchy is off to Europe to promote his debut album and Shunda is currently on the world's largest tour with Yo Majesty, it will be a bit of a wait before we see the pair performing Le Passion live. Le son me vient naturellement mais il y a plusieurs éléments épars qui entrent en jeu lorsque l'on crée une chanson. Je voudrais vous donner un aperçu de ce qui se passe dans mon studio et comment les choses émergent du cerveau d'un Zombie.

" ... C'est un vrai morceau funky, pas trop lourd, avec étrangement presque un côté deep ... Je l'adore. On est pendant l'été 2008, tout le monde lézarde au soleil. Assis dans mon studio en sous-sol uniquement relié au monde extérieur par une petite double fenêtre insonorisée, je travaille cette chanson en regardant passer les jambes des gens heureux qui se dirigent vers les terrasses du Biergarten1. La fenêtre est ouverte et parfois quelqu'un passe la tête. Je suis sûr qu'ils vont tous au Biergarten et que dans dix minutes ils seront en train de manger du rôti de porc, une grande bière fraîche à la main, discutant avec leurs amis en respirant l'air frais de l'été. Né du grand cru 1984, Don Nola ne tarda pas à s’initier aux joies des platines dès l’âge de 15 ans. En parallèle, il découvre le graffiti qui le conduira à devenir graphiste de formation. Turnablist à ses heures, il ne tarde pas à délaisser la table de mixage pour l’ordinateur et les logiciels de production musicale. Six ans s’écoulent et Don Nola évolue dans différents styles musicaux, du hip-hop à l’électro, en passant par la house et la baltimore. Ses premières productions sont plutôt orientées vers les remixes puis il se met à composer ses premiers tracks, club et épicés à souhait. Don Nola commence à squatter les platines des clubs et partage l’affiche avec Kazey, StripSteve (BoysNoize Rec.), Leonard De Leonard, Tom Deluxx et Julien Milan. Début 2008, il apparaît sur la compile « Pirlz City Poyz Gang » de DJ Gero aux côtés de références comme Leonard de Leonard, Drixxxé ou Grems. Son premier Maxi « Washer » vient de sortir sur le label Playerz et se prépare à multiplier les sets dans divers clubs à Bordeaux et hors de ses frontières.

1. Peux-tu nous parler de ton premier album qui sortira fin janvier 2009 ? Ainsi que des featurings qui seront présents dessus.
Je ne suis pas le mieux placé pour en parler ... t'en penses quoi toi ? Sérieusement tout ce que je peux dire c'est que c'est la première fois que je suis vraiment content d'un truc que je fais, et c'est déjà beaucoup. Il y a un morceau avec les Shit Disco, un avec Amanda Blank, un avec les Chromeo et bien sûr Clément de ALB (Klanguage) et les Bewitch Hands ... mais ce sont des gens qui ont écrit les morceaux avec moi ou qui chantent avec moi, je n'ai pas invité des gens à poser juste une voix sur un morceau fini, c'est un échange, un moment ensemble.
2. Comment se dérouleront les concerts que tu donneras à la suite de l’album ? Tous tes featurings seront présents ?
Dans un premier temps, je fais une petite tournée live seul (mais avec quelques surprises) en province en France, en Angleterre, aux Etats-Unis puis en Avril je fais la Cigale à Paris, les premiers festivals et une tournée internationale ensuite. Pour cette dernière partie, on travaille sur une nouvelle formule avec des invités mais rien n'est encore calé sachant que nos emplois du temps sont tous chargés et que c'est dur de réunir tout le monde ...
3. Un nouveau live (configuration scénique) pour un nouvel album ?
Je serais toujours seul, pas de batteur en vue, mais une évolution scénique et musicale bien sûr.
4. Tu as produit le nouvel album de Birdy Nam Nam, peux-tu nous parler de cette collaboration ? Des anecdotes ?
C'était très sympa, j'adore les mecs, on s'est très bien entendu et ça c'est fait très simplement, à la cool. Quoi dire de plus ? j'étais juste en retard de 2 heures tous les jours au studio, on finissait toujours la journée dans un état étrange ... Bref rien de bien original pour une production d'album, mais c'était un plaisir et on est très fier du résultat. L'album sort en ce moment je crois.
5. En parlant de production, est-ce une chose vers laquelle tu aimerais te tourner à l’avenir ? (Pour de jeunes artistes ?)
Cette année je produis l'album des Bewitch Hands et de ALB (les 2 meilleurs groupes de pop de France) et j'ai des demandes pour d'autres trucs ... j'aime bien faire ça, surtout quand ce n'est pas de l'électro.
6. Ton projet Klanguage, c’est définitivement fini ?
Non, surement pas ...
7. Qu’est-ce qui t’as inspiré pour ton clip Tonight ?
En fait on était parti sur une idée assez différente, un délire sur les mains (Take My Hand), un culte des mains mais le scénario initial était trop compliqué et trop cher à réaliser, donc on a gardé cette idée sectaire et j'avais surtout envie que la "Reims Academy" soit présente dans le clip, il y a les Shoes, les Bewitch, ALB et d'autres potes ... malheureusement Brodinski n'a pas pu être là.
8. Que penses-tu de la popularité de ce titre (qui passe même sur Fun Radio) ?
C'est cool, franchement ce n'était pas prévu et le morceau à priori n'est pas fait pour ça, mais tant mieux, je ne suis pas dans une posture à penser qu'il n'y a que des cons qui écoutent ce genre de radio, chacun son truc, et si ce morceau peut-être joué par les 2 Many DJ's et y passer je n'y vois rien à dire de spécial, même si pour ma part je n'écoute pas la radio du tout.
9. Outre la sortie de ton album fin janvier 2009, d'autres projets, niveau remixs ?
White Lies sur Polydor (Uk) et Autokratz sur Kitsuné (Fr).
