Rusko "Da Cali Anthem"

As we write, specific details for this one are still in short supply, hence the “to be confirmed” qualification of catalogue number and release date, but don’t let that prevent you lumping on a confident preorder stake faster than a very fast thing. With a huge list of releases and remix productions to his name, and an international bookings diary rammed full into the far distance, Rusko is one of the most wanted selectors in dubstep today, and in ‘Woo Boost’ he’s armed with one of the top-demanded tracks of the moment. Picking serious club and radio play in the last few months, this mighty tear-out tune will finally hit vinyl in the new year on Diplo’s Mad Decent imprint, backed up with remixes by Tel Aviv producer and metal band drummer Borgore, newcomer Subskrpt (who also has a remix of Major Lazer’s ‘Cash Flow’ ready to drop), and Institubes’ jolting zouk-house hybridiser Douster.

First we must share with you that a baby was born in the Kitsuné family recently, he’s called Yumé – ‘dream’ in Japanese. This new album was thought out, conceived and put together whilst this young child was being breastfed in the room next door. So logically the toddler has had some kind of influence on the new Kitsuné Maison compilation. Indeed here is officially the most snuggly, peaceful, motherly Kitsuné compilation until now – soft as cotton. In the midst of one of the worst winters Paris has known for a long time and with so many conflicts all around, we have been looking for calm and tenderness. As a result this new compilation brings you almost as much comfort as taking a newly born in your arms and giving him a cuddle. That’s right, this is music babies can get into. A fully padded compilation that’s rather more candid, innocent and carefree than the norm, and which is still inviting the listener to shake his hips. The kindliness of a home (maison) forever opened to all kinds of ideas but that from then on also has to look after a child. Suddenly a new transversal approach shapes up with this compilation attractive to ears of all ages. Rested, serene, more contemplative, with a selection that’s probably more geared at sunday afternoon than saturday night, more yuzu green tea than stupid alcopops. Sure there are a few hysterical sirens in the Jupiter track, but we asked for them to be toned down in order to keep the little one asleep. “Kitsuné Maison 9” will be released April 26, 2010 on Kitsuné. Pick it up on iTunes, Amazon, Beatport, eMusic, and other fine digital outlets.

Lazersonic & Zak Frost met whilst Dj’ing at T in the Park and through a love of analogue and digital machines their bond was sealed. Their first collaboration “Aquaplane” was signed by Turbo Recordings and was remixed by Williams and Unit 4. The Unit 4 mix was featured on Turbo’s Omni Dance compilation and received airplay from Radio 1’s Kissy Sell Out. And now for their second release, “Levels” which has already gained support from the likes of David Guetta on his international “F**k Me I’m Famous” radio show. The track has a massive bassline and features unique vocals from Ali Love (K-Hole, vocal on Chemical Brothers “Do It Again”). ‘Levels’ is a sonic assault on the senses, backed with two remixes from Shadow Dancer (Boys Noize Records) and a storming remix from newcomer Kill The Hero. Expect it to be dominating the all the right clubs in all the right places.
